I'm no fan of Islam. I find the whole religion distasteful, self-serving, violent, and with expansionist ideals. Yet we have to tolerate it, tolerate and accept the ways and wishes of our local Muslim communities, and be understanding of their wants and needs within our society. Fair enough. We're a tolerant society so we tolerate it. So can anyone tell me why this so-called "tolerance" has to be such a one way street? Why is it okay for Muslims to build mosques and communities in this nation of ours, when our citizens cannot even visit an Islamic city and engage in a simple kiss without facing prison? I am of course talking about the pathetic "crime" the British couple in Dubai caused when they kissed in a restaurant. I think I just ran out of tolerance when I heard about this. Quite frankly it just goes to show that our political correctness is crippling us, and, if we allow it, it will eventually bloody kill us all.
According to the news report they were arrested after a local Muslim woman complained at their "display" which disrespected the strict public decency laws. Don't talk to me about "public decency" in Islamic countries. Have you seen the many and varied public executions, beheadings, hangings, and floggings that take place daily in many of these places? Is that "public decency"? I've seen some these events thanks to some of the more informed news feeds online. Believe me I would much rather see a couple kissing any day.
I can't remember the last time a news story made me so ******* angry. I've been for meals with my wife before and SHOCK! HORROR! I have kissed her in public. Why not? I love her! Hell, I even kissed her before we were married. In public! Maybe I am now running the risk of offending any resident Muslims if I do this again. My answer to this: TOUGH S***T!!! All British couples should kiss in public more often quite frankly, and screw the PC brigade who worry about the offense it may cause and screw the Islamic fraternity that would arrest and imprison us for it.

I agree with you both, but those who make the decisions are too scared to shout about it.
There is a majority of really lovely, peaceful Muslims, but these are not the problem, it's the militant, expansionist, fundamentalist Muslims that are the real very serios problem and threat that no one is waking up to.
There is a Muslim body that is promoting Islamist MPs and the numbers have increased 100 fold in ten years and their focus is on creating more and more Muslim MPs. They are also instrumental in funding overseas fundamentalist Islamic groups.
Evil triumphs when good men do nothing and good men - Christians and Muslims, are doing nothing.
I've had emails with various facts etc on, that I've been scared to reproduce on here, so have had to keep them to myself.
Sad world - or it will be when its too late.

I'm as tolerant as many others in the ways of other cultures, but not at the expense of our own. I couldn't agree more with Rick's rant, er......post. All the longer this nonsense carries on, so you will see an increase in the vote for extreme parties. All the while the mainstream parties bemoan the rise of what they perceive to be fascism and want it outlawed (yes, more sodding legislation!), instead of looking at the reasons behind why the BNP's vote continues to get larger.
As Roger says, the decision makers are too scared to do anything about it. Vote them out then, until such time as they change their tune.

went to visit my number 2 daughter in bradford a couple of years ago,it sure was an eye opener,coming in from leedsdown the short streach of moterway i saw what where churches in the distance but as we passed by on the coach they where converted to mosqes.couldnt find a christian church anywhere.

Firstly this couple were in someone else's country and should have been aware of and abided by their rules and customs, so for them I have little sympathy, particularly given all the recent cases in the Arab Emirates.
Secondly, whilst we should be tolerant of and respect others religious beliefs etc. this MUST not be at the expense of our beliefs and customs and we should expect, in fact demand, that all people who come to this country respect our beliefs, customs and laws.
Finally, all fundamentalists irrespective of creed or belief system are dangerous, whether they are Islamists, Zionists, Chistians, BNP etc.

Well said about abiding by the rules and customs of the host country, Ross.
Lets make sure that immigrants here do the same and integrate or get out. We have been far too over tolerant with all that multi-cultural tosh.

in the case of the couple in dubai, one had been working and living there for some time.
the dubai authorities turn a blind eye unless something is reported, in this case it was a mother out with her daughter that made the complaint.
