The Conservative Anne McIntosh has won the delayed general election vote in the North Yorkshire constituency of Thirsk and Malton.

Liberal Democrat Howard Keal was second with Labour's Jonathan Roberts beaten into third.

The vote was delayed following the death last month of UKIP candidate John Boakes.

Figures show 38,142 votes were cast in Thursday's ballot with turnout put at 50.3%.

Ms McIntosh was MP for Vale of York in the last Parliament.

The constituency of Thirsk and Malton was created from the former seats of Ryedale and Vale of York.

    No surprises here then!
