17:4727593Sir Patrick Cormack says that MPs pay should increase from £64k to £130k and scrap their second home allowance. lib/Dem Ed Davey accused him of living on planet Zog. What the report didn't say was what would happen to the pay of MPs who didn't have or need a second home. Some how they will wriggle around to ensure that they don't lose out after the expenses scandal.

I think therefore I am (not a Tory supporter)

18:3627597This is outrageous and highly racist. I know a lot of Zoggites, and they are all very nice, bright, intelligent beings capable of a whole range of telekinetics and advanced technological miracles. To suggest that a ludicrous comment by an Earth MP makes him "from the planet Zog" is highly offensive. I'm sure that when the Zoggite ambassadors from the High Galactic Council receive our transmissions they will feel deeply offended and put out by this careless, un-PC comment. Perhaps Ed Davey should get to know a few Zog residents properly prior to making such demeaning throw-away comments. He might actually find that what he SHOULD have said was that he thinks Sir Patrick Cormack is "living on Earth" where greed and corruption is a purely human phenomenon.

06:4427610Great posting Rick, thanks.
Any MP who makes stupid postings about doubling their wages should be sent to Planet Zog; as Rick says, they are so much more intelligent there and these MP's might learn a bit of common-sense and humanity (probably not, though, from a Zoggite !)

05:0727659Why, Keith?
I may not like McCormack but at least his suggestion included the scrapping of expenses and is a suggestion worth consideration.
Douglas Hogg wants both - he has already been effectively sacked as a Conservative MP and will not be standing at the next election.
Hogg is going because of his abuse of expenses, not this suggestion.
Personally I dont have a problem with Conservative MPs being individualistic, speaking out with their own opinions rather than being clones - even if I dont like them. Individualism is what the Conservatives are akll about.

07:1627666I agree with you Barry - they should be allowed to say what they feel, but there is also a view that on important matters and this is a very important matter for every one, that it can create a view that every Conservative MP thinks a certain way (like being just plain greedy) and so far removed from the common view, it will put people off of voting for them.

12:3127692neither of the two mp's involved on this have been very vocal on other subjects.
suddenly they decide to speak when it is about more money for them.
do they not understand public feeling at present?

Obviously not, they are so out of touch, giving all MP';s a bad name at a time when they need to improve
