17:1033874Today the Town Mayor the delightful Cllr Sue Jones presented Age Concern with a cheque, to help towards the funding of the Christmas Lunch which the Centre Manager and helpers are putting on for the elderly on Christmas Day .
Riverside Centre is already looking very festive , with Christmas Trees and decorations.
The Mayor has kindly agreed to pop in to see everyone on Christmas Day .

17:1533875Well thats very good to see. The Town Council seem to be getting good coverage today both on the frontpage and in the thread re the Sandwich Loo's from our New Business Support Manager.
Yove got to say a well done to Mayor Sue Jones there re Christmas Day. It looks like the Riverside Centre is the place to be on Christmas Day...everybody who is anybody appears to be going, with BuddyG topping the bill singing the Buddy Holly favourites. They will all have a great time Im sure.

20:5033950Can I just say that - in my humble opinion - Sue Jones is proving to be an excellent Mayor. I get the impression that she really does want to do all she can to help as many people in Dover as possible. Kudos to her and Dover Town Council who seem to have united behind her; all very pleasing to see, and long may it continue.
True friends stab you in the front.

10:0433974I was at the full Town council meeting last night, there was only two of the public there me and one other and he got up and left after about 30mins things do not change. But what I did see was that there is still a big gap beween the D.D.C.and D.T.C. way of thinking.I just feel all the time we have two partys running two councils they will never get down to working with each other with our money,if we see the Town council go blue next time then you will see them working with each other, would that be a good thing to have one party heading both councils? I think it could work with some good will from both sides, but it will not work the way it is today from looking outside in,it is the same as it was when I was on the council.

11:0733979Vic it will always be the same at Dover Town Council until the political balance changes .This is happening at Deal and Sandwich have always worked well with DDC all the trime both are blue .
THe Labour Dover Town Council will always hold on to that last bit of power .I dont agree with this and i get on well with most of the Town Councillors but VIc it is Power .When the general public realise its all about power then they will suffer .I fight on in my own way and i try to work with everyone .Im a very old fashioned Councillor and Im there for the good of the people
I cant be doing with I cant speak to that person or accept their ideas because im a different colour .We then woer why we have wars Power and greed ..

17:2433987Sue did you mean the Councillors are only in it for power? because if you did I would dispute that,I am certinately not in for the power and I speak for my friends on the labour side,we are in it to do the best for the people in our wards. Our wards are also some of the poorest in the district which means we have more ward work to do than in the 'richer' parts of the Town.
Just recently when you lost your Cabinet position on the Council we heard about it on hear and in the paper, soon after I lost my position on the Shadow Cabinet because the Leader reduced the amount of Cabinet members. What you do not realise is I stepped down because it would have meant me fighting an election against 2 of my friends who do a very good job,so I withdrew quietly, that doesn't sound like a power crazy person. You will also remember that when I was Deputy Mayor i resigned when the chances were the next year I would have been Mayor.
Vic have to disagree with you,any effective Council needs an opposition for proper scruity, and I know Sue would agree as once again she backed a Labour idea to get people involved in what the District Council does, because she realises that the people should have a voice and discuss the sell off of nearly everything the Council holds. Well done Sue!
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

23:4634013To clarify .I think collectivly the Town Council want to hold on to the power ,however there are some individuals like John who is a councillor for the right reason
Yes Howard I did mean the Town Council but there are some District Councillors who want the power .I have sat on both sides so understand what it is like being in oposition .
John I donot live in a deprived ward but believe you me they expect a high standard and i deal with lots of case work .My ward does cover a large area I can often be seen with my pony and trap trundling along the peaceful lanes of the Alkham Valley I usually wear a hat .I try not to run over Vic walking backwards .
