10:2564930After many months of being "Closed Today To Visitors" Ron and Val have opened up the place.
Good luck to them.

12:5764941Glad it's open to visitors but, oh dear, dreadful apostrophisation crimes on the poster!
Can't anyone spell anyfink proper any more these days?

16:2164959Great news indeed and this needs to be publicised to all the hotels and guest houses too, as well as the shops/businesses in Dover.
Perhaps this is something Spencer could do ?

21:4265026Agree with Andrew, those apostrophies creep in everywhere..... more and more...
if folks don't know what grammar is, then get someone to check it .... before it goes out to the general public...

21:5765030At last we have been trying to do this for some 6years or more now it will help get more of the public into the town centre,i do think this has come about because the town hall bookings are down this year it is run very well, but just not the events this year to use it so much, and this will help that aswell, anyway very good news.

23:2665051So that's were you had been when I saw you wandering up the town with camera in hand Terry. Traffic was so bad you nearly made it home before me I think!
Glad to see the Town Hall is open though.

09:2465082Opening the Town Hall will do very little, if anything, to help the town centre and I would suggest the reason for bookings being down is the exhorbitant pricing structure in operation at that venue. The prices are well in excess of the quality, either of venue or catering.
Having said all that, in my dealings with Ron, he has been very helpful and understanding; he doesn't create the pricing structure, that's done over at Margate.

12:2065121Think last time there was an event I went to there (the film festival) a small cup of coffee was the best part of £2.... ?
Been nice knowing you :)

06:4965296It may be that the reason for this, is that bookings for the Town Hall are down and a good way to increase income is to open up the Town Hall to visitors when events are not taking place there and offer beverages and snacks etc.
If it is too expensive for people, they will make their thoughts/feelings known; it must be kept to a reasonable cost or it won't work.
I do agree that events I have attended there, the teas, coffees and alcoholic drinks, have been quite a bit more that other licensed premises, but then it is a bit special isn't it ?

A Fantastic tourist attraction, and yep teas/coffees etc
