The big laugh about the Lottery Funding is that however worthy, sensible or even necessary your project is, 10% of funding must be spent on 'community engagement' (dread phrase).
This means that DDC are scratching their arses trying to find ways of wasting over a million pounds on such as providing the spawn of the denizens of St Radigunds with stained-glass workshops (whereas the closest they will get to 'stained glass restoration' is wiping old lipstick stains off pint glasses in Wetherspoons)
