Roundhill Tunnel shut again this morning, despite the one lane of freight beyond it obviously moving well when I got to the Capel/Hougham roundabout.

The police were there turning around some freight but letting others proceed down towards Folkestone Road. Some of them definitely ferry traffic and not delivering locally lorries (which I fear may be avoiding Dover at the moment. Went shopping when I finally got back and the shelves are looking bare and there's only a couple of days shelf life if that on the stuff they have got in).

How were they even allowed to get that far? Maybe they should be checking lorries validity at an earlier roundabout/junction?

I really feel that shutting that tunnel is not the right idea. Where else is the freight that has got that far going to go, other than up Folkestone Hill or towards Alkham Valley to try and rejoin the A20 there?

Seems they've learnt nothing from the weekend. I see KRT have put out a statement: "Local communities should prepare for potential disruption on the roads this weekend (8-10 April) as the Easter getaway gets underway.".

I thought that was their job!

Might as well have written "...so just suck it up Dover".
