  As a non profit, volunteer group, funded from grants. Do we have to pay VAT on building the new memorial site for the statue?

  Gary there was something in one of the Dover papers this week that refers to something similar. Don Hunter who organised the Merchant Navy statue on the seafront has just been refunded a vast amount of vat that they had earlier been forced to pay...so you are definitely in the right ballpark there. You may need to take advice...BarryW might be able to suggest something. It may be payable upfront but refundable later...as is the case with all these things, very tricky to work out.
