Don't underestimate the strength of BA; they are one of the largest airlines in the world. The other airlines know if BA give in, they could be next. Hence, the other airlines wet-leasing to BA to break the strike. ACMI or wet lease means BA hires a plane with a full compliment of crew to fill the gaps caused by the Unite action.
The market is awash with aircraft and crews for lease so, carrying 60% plus of their traffic this way means there will be little or no effect on BA.
If the Unite boss is so smart, as he purports to be, he'd know this. So, his members are going to suffer whilst he postures. Hmm, I think we've seen that before! Willie Walsh is still a knob-head, but he holds all the cards.
