A new study hurtling in my direction from the annals of the BBC has suggested that anyone who eats processed meat like sausages are doing themselves harm. This study was actually carried out by none other than Harvard University, a fine body of scholars.
It seems eating such food, and I myself have a liking for the humble Richmond Sausage, increases your risk two fold in comparison to say non processed meats. Which was often considered a risk in itself.
"On average, each 50g serving of processed meat per day - the equivalent of a sausage or a couple of rashers of bacon - was associated with a 42% higher chance of developing coronary heart disease and a 19% higher risk of diabetes."
So, if for example you eat sausages and bacon everyday then you clearly are playing with fire. jeez they take away all the fun. So there goes your burgers too, as you cant get any more processed meat than a burger.
As this type of food is mostly consumed by the poorer members of society, as a rough generalisation, you can see how in some well-to-do well fed areas people live substantially longer than those who dont. So there you are.
