I weigh myself weekly. About 6-7 years ago I was on the verge of tipping 18 stone brought about by a health problem that prevented me from doing any mildly strenuous exercise (didn't stop me running for the Indies or revitalising carnival although it was very tough) while I waited almost 4 years for the NHS to fix me (couldn't afford private). After I was fixed the weight meandered down to just under 17 stone and then I decided to try a small portion of yoghurt before bed. This of course replaced any after dinner snacks and kept me going until breakfast several hours later.
Suddenly I noticed the pounds were dropping off, slowly but consistently, until a couple of weeks back I went below 15 stone for the first time in over 30 years. At this point I stopped the nightly yoghurt and guess what? Yep, I m back to 15 stone 4 pounds.
So, yes, I confes to watching my weight, not through vanity, but through an interest in how I am doing and getting down to a healthier weight. At my last check-up I was told my liver and kidney functions were equal to those of a man 20 years my junior, blood pressure was good, cholesterol as it should be and best of all, I feel fitter without doing all that gymnasium stuff.
