...... at the Hellfire Corner weekend we hosted the Jive Aces, the top swing band in the UK.
They were talked into coming down and doing a couple of slots for just expenses....
If you were there you will have seen just how fantastic they are. Simply brilliant musicians and performers. They blew everyone away, they did the usual 40's stuff, like the great Glen Millar hits, some Sinatra, Mac the Knife included - then there was their original version of Blue Birds Over the White Cliffs of Dover....hey, it must be heard.....
Well after their last show they were saying in conversation that Sunday is their day off....
Quick as a flash, lindyhop specialist and USO boss, Kieron, said well why not come back and do another (free) slot....
Well, after some thought they said yes......
They enjoyed themselves so much in Dover they are coming back on Sunday..... again for free (well we will pay expenses.....)
So well done to Dover - to all of you, its your enthusiasm and sheer love of this great music that has brought them back.
We will now have to re-schedule tomorrow, a good problem to have..... but expect them to perform at around midday.....
