    Alex, by coincidence I took a photo of the Historic Dover sign on the corner of Maison Dieu and Harold Passage a few weeks ago. This is New St James church as depicted on the sign. It clearly occupied pretty much the whole of what is now the playing field for St Marys School. It was demolished after WW2 having sustained war damage and being surplus to requirements. Ian described the little building which still remains as a Chapel of Rest in an earlier thread. My conjecture is that it was at the rear of the church and was left standing when the rest was demolished.
