Statistics and news headlines can often be used to promote a perceived theory one reason not to completely believe either of them.
The Telegraph uses "Nearly a half of Britons" etc but a large percentage of said Britons are children or retired, only later does the term "working-age adults" get used. This is another useful phrase as it will not include those who are legitimately unable to work like the disabled or stay at home mothers.
