After the shooting of Mr Trump this morning, will the new president of the States when he gets in power later in the year try and bring in new gun laws to curve all the shootings they get.I do not think they will.

'Curved shooting' has probably saved a lot of people from a bullet, VM.
Seriously, that USG Security cannot even prevent an assassination attempt on a Presidential candidate from an obvious spot 150 yards away from an open stage is an argument
for widespread gun ownership, not against it.
Also, I really didn't believe that, after Raab, Truss, Cleverly, and Cameron, we could have anyone lower-grade as Foreign Secretary. But Labour found one.

Well, as they say, it’s the person pulling the trigger that kills, not the gun. On the other hand, if they didn’t all have guns, it might not happen. I have family in the USA and my cousin has a whole load of guns, I’ve seen them including an automatic rifle. But what on earth would he want with all that? It’s a nonsense.

Guns for hunting, guns for protection, guns for aesthetics. All good reasons.
Matey, did you ask your cousin why he had them?

I did ask him and so did his sister, she gave him a hard time over it. His answer? “Because it’s an American citizen’s right to hold a gun “. Ridiculous, why would he want all those weapons??? The murder stats for the USA is scary! No surprise.☹️

Copied from NCR…..
The number of murders in the United States jumped by nearly 30% in 2020 compared with the previous year in the largest single-year increase ever recorded in the country, according to official FBI statistics released Monday. The data shows 21,570 homicides in the U.S. in 2020, which is a staggering 4,901 more than in 2019.
Yikes! That’s 1800 a month, or about 60 people a day! Guns!

I have never understood the American thought process They portray themselves as a deeply religious nation by condemning abortion and then say it is ok to own and use all sorts of guns that can kill their children.
Who needs an automatic for self protection, they still seem to have that ignorant and very dangerous wild west mentality.

Hang on, Matey. Where in this snippet does it say that these murders involved 'guns'?
In any case, why would you not want to exercise a liberty guaranteed by your Constitution, even more so when your government is an increasing threat to that very Constitution?
As for the rest, if you 'never understood' Americans, then perhaps you should blame your understanding for that rather than Americans.

Because I think it's an outdated provision, don't see the threat and hence don't wish to avail myself of the liberty to bear arms (and, bearing them, presumably use them with intent to kill)? We may not have a constitution here, recent governments may have been a threat to "democracy", but I haven't felt the urge to research firearm BOGOFF offers in local outlets.

Well, B, in the first case, a liberty is a liberty: it's not forced on you. If you decide not to take it up, that's your issue (although you might find it disappears if you don't).
In the second case, haven't you noticed that in this country we cannot carry arms?

Just as well that we can't, otherwise the old geezers who a) drove at 30 mph from DOY to Deal yesterday and b) hit my car in St James today would be gonners!
