Sue - with all possible respect it is not that simple. Who will pay for re-location? It is not cheap, and consider the fracture in relationships for the kids at schools....My Old Man moved for work (choice) when I was pregnant with our youngest and we had thought we were settled near to family and schools - I had to arrange the sale of our house (a house and garden I loved, BTW) , look after the remaining 3 kids, have the fourth (!) and run the household while arranging the move away from family to an unfamiliar environment - which I had to try to make exciting and fun for the kids . We did it, and it was right, but it wasn't easy. The fact that it was just the oldest at school (I still think moving at that point did her no good at all) and that I am a bit of a battleaxe helped, but for many it just isn't that simple!!
Even now I work at distance from home (my work is not really local stuff) because we like it here and the kids are settled. It would be easier, in fact, if the Old Man and I simply re-located to London. But apart from cost, the family are settled here, and we love Dover!
