Truly remarkable story and what a thrill it must have been to have been involved in the process.
As an aside, is there anyway of jumping the adverts that front these clips or do I just have to live with them?

I don't know Mark - some sites do have a skip advert button but others not. Pain in the neck are they not! But without the ads we would be the poorer for lack of the resource.

I see in the Express that Capel residents have complained about the Action Stations Spitfire flights and their refuelling in fields.
I really do not see how anyone can possible complain about seeing and hearing a Spitfire, even if you also have to put up with the sound of a helicopter. Some strange people around. I bet they would not have complained 70 years ago.

On the subject of the Spitfire.
I have just received delivery of this £120 1:32 scale kit of the Mark XVI Spit. Cant wait to build it but before I do I have to finish a 1:48 scale Mark V Spit, a 1:48 Mark 1 and a 1:48 Seafire as well as a 1:32 JU88.....
This particular kit must be the ultimate Spitfire kit from the reviews I have read, based on fit, detail and accuracy.

What an amazing story sad that the chap died before knowing his plane had been restored, and what dedication of thoses who most lovingly put it back to its former glory to fly again.

High Flight
John Gillespie Magee, Jr
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds, --and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of --Wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air...
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark or even eagle flew --
And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.
