22:207940after a gap of about a year and a quarter, the above mentioned problem has returned to the tropic of priory.
a selection of 5 chavs/chavettes created a lot of noise and irritation this evening.
climbing over cars and generally making a lot of noise.
has anyone got any ideas of dealing with this nuisance?
as they seemed to average somewhere around 6 feet in height and were clearly not schoolkids, cowardice got the
better of me.

08:517947Its not always that simple though Brian. I think the only thing to do in these circumstances is to call the police, but it is interesting that this course seems to be something people no longer consider. Do the police not respond? Do they not respond quick enough?
Perhaps the police are frustrated because very little happens to the culprits even if arrested. But really we need a situation to exist where we can call the police over matters like this and they come and deal with it.Its a simple philosophy and should be made work.

18:097962Have worked closely with the Police in Buckland and in the Town as well and have found unless you keep pestering you don't get anything done as in the end they get so feedup, they must be sick of the sight of me.

19:177970i would only contact them now if i needed a crime number for an insurance claim.
even that can be complicated.
i am not the only one that thinks that way.

20:127974There are many with the same experiences. As a by-the-way, I remember when I was a little younger and out with the kids, all under 12, and we were approached by some "kids" who were a bit menacing - without thinking it through properly I asked the biggest one if he had a paper bag. he said no, why? I said he'd need one to take his nuts home in if he didn't **** off now. They left quietly. Those were the days....

23:417987When I was 16 there was a small furniture van that would go around the streets in our town and if any one was making a nuisance 12 burly guys with base ball bats would get out the back give you a warning if you were still there when they got back god help you, the police took a blind eye to this as a warning was all you needed then. Still have the van.

If you and your neighbours phone the police every time and all ask for an incident number, i'm sure they will soon start a more regular patrol of the area.
Million-to-one chances crop up nine times out of ten.

just over a year and a half ago, we used to have a patrol car around these streets 2 or 3 times during the evening.
i posted on here of this and that they just drove past any miscreant behaviour.
they immediately stopped the patrols.
in defence of mr plod they arrested a man some time ago for an unprovoked assault on a neighbour, the victim refused to press charges for fear of reprisals.
