Here’s a conundrum for you to ponder if you like to have your brain taxed as well as your pension.
Most Pensioners normally receive their government pension, paid into their bank account, every 4 weeks. This equates to 13 payments per tax year.
Compiling an annual spread sheet to check that I had paid the correct tax on income I discovered that I had received 14 payments in the year 2023/2024.
It took me a while to suss out the reason. Can you?

Dunno Bob but am I the only one who is maddened by the fact that pensions are paid on a lunar cycle whereas the rest of my world works by payment by the calender month (Council Tax, Insurance, Water, Electricity, Gas, Club Memberships etc etc as was my salary when I was working)?
How people on a restricted income cope with this scheduling miss-match God knows.
FWIW I wrote to my MP who recieved a reply from the DWP that it would cost a small fortune to reprogramme their computers (which still run on Windows 95?) so we will have to remain with the status quo.
Forget about 'selling off our NHS', the quicker someone sells the entire country to a conglomerate of Apple, Amazon and Google and we have sometthing that actualy works the better.
