The article is about cheating but the thing that struck me was EU nationals were taking it when they were guaranteed the right to remain here.

Picked out a sample test with 24 questions and the nett result is that I will be packing my effects into boxes first thing tomorrow.

I fell for that one and most of the others didn't relate to how people had integrated. Only an older Brit would know that Agatha Christie wrote "The Mousetrap", I thought Hogmanay was Jan 1st but it is the previous day and I didn't know how often a 70 year old had to renew a driving licence.

It is no wonder people are cheating, I would estimate that at least half of the born and bred citizens would fail!

The questions should be a lot more practical and about every day life, knowing who wrote the Mousetrap means nothing or how to be a modern model UK citizen.

Bloody cheek of a quiz when you get such constructions as 'Where is there UK located with regards to Europe?' or 'Which programme helps 16 and 17 year-olds develop their skills and are part in community projects?' Whoever heard of 'Hadrien’s Wall' for crying out loud? And surely 'The Steam power' sounds more like an 80s disco band than a force driving the industrial revolution. Perhaps it's just the question-setter's ironic commentary on the futility of it all.

Farcical questions. Of no use, whatsoever.

I finally took the whole thing and scored 18, really 17 (minus one because I saw the answer on here). I am astounded I beat the Captain obviously I am a better guesser than he is.

I got 15 which is still a fail but to me it was like a pub quiz where team members put their heads together for a fun evening out. A much better way would be to interview the applicant to ascertain their knowledge of our language, get references from their employer and landlord and do a criminal record check.
