  I know I am fairly ignorant on the subject of bitcoins and how the idea works but I have never understood why they they have become popular.
  
  If I understand correctly hey do not actually exist only in someones imagination and the internet cloud but people have to buy them with real money. If this was dreamt up by a known conman they would be in court but because so called clever people are involved they are ok.

  Up and down like the proverbial bride's nightie, Keith. It's always worth bearing in mind that there is no dividend or interest paid on cryptocurrencies. They are, by their very nature, purely speculative and thus perennially volatile.
