Mothers Day.
It's Mother's Day today, a special day each year,
When children like to pamper mum, as she's held so dear,
The younger ones excited, showing their affection,
Whilst with some older one's, she's not their first selection!
She remembers oh so clearly, the good times that have gone,
When as a proud young Mother, love for them was strong,
Protecting and nurturing them, allaying all their fears,
Comforting them, encouraging them, drying all their tears.
Some children rarely visit now, their 'own lives' they've got,
Wives, children and holidays, enjoying their new lot,
So perhaps once a year they trek home to visit Mum,
Some flowers, maybe a card, then their duty's done!
Sitting in her chair as the afternoon light diminishes,
A tear glistens on her cheek, as her thoughts of others finishes,
She's happy in the knowledge, her children don't stay away,
They treasure their Mum all year, not just on Mother's Day.
So treasure your Mother as she certainly does you,
You're always her children your whole life through,
When you leave home, you are still her concern,
If you haven't noticed now, throughout life you will learn!
Do nothing and nothing happens.
