    #85 Keith your posting stating the Matron controlled the Hospital is wrong. Matron controlled the nursing staff , whilst the Hospital Secretary all other functions including all ancillary & admin staff & employment of medical staff with preferences determined by Consultants.

    These are historic titles. Todays titles tend to be Chief Nurses & Chief Executives . Matrons in todays terms tend to be specialist clinical admin posts.
