Migrant crisis: Thousands stranded in Greece as borders tighten
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-35667769
The pressure on Greece must be intense at the moment. Broke, desperate and overrun with 'migrants' they may be involved in more than they are able to cope with, think of what the outcome could be?
They could be offered 'help' from Russia or even a help ourselves coup from those already there with swift backup from opportunists from across the Med.
Turkey is at loggerheads with Russia and there are, conveniently, unresolved issues between Greece and Turkey in Cyprus which are ripe for exploitation.
Far fetched? Just look how Syria is turning out.

I seem to remember you raising this issue before Bob particularly with regard to Mr Putin seeing an opening.
Migrants complain that the Greeks process them too slowly and don't mollycoddle them enough, thr EU and UN say that Greece is not fulfilling their obligations despite the people being poorer than Jeremy Corbyn's tailor.
If iI was a "bubble" I wouldn't be too bothered whether the Russians moved their fleets and missiles in or a military coup took place as long as there was food on the table.

What a depressing read for Greece there seems to be no solution. They are keeping migrants away from holiday resorts but bookings still plummet as potential holiday makers can't be sure they wont be overrun.

I don't know how much more that the Greeks can take, they seem inundated at the ports and inland plus their islands are struggling to cope. Countless more will start arriving soon now that the weather is improving and I can only see crime and civil disturbances arise out of it.

Saw film of that Brian, must be the first time that I have felt sorry for riot police. Those people with the battering rams were clearly at home with violence and the poverty stricken people of Macedonia are stuck with some of them for the time being. The rest of Europe is now wising up on the problem in their midst and today Austria who have already virtually closed their borders have signed a petition so large that their government has to hold a referendum on their continued EU membership.

Having been to Macedonia on C/Trip a few years a go they are very nice but very poor but the city are looking very good but they have only a small police force and Army so not looking good for them at this time.

Technically under the Dublin and Geneva Conventions they should be returned by Greece to the first safe country i.e. Turkey.

You are correct Peter, but it's not going to happen unfortunately. Furthermore, how safe is Turkey nowadays?

Safe, away from Syrian and Iraqi border areas.

I doubt the Dublin Convention is of any relevance as Turkey are not (yet!) EU members. Geneva counts though and they should be returned/pushed back to Turkey but of course they don't want them.
