Competition in verse! Surely it's not too hard?
For only last night, someone told me 'You're Bard'.
Will the man in the manse, beat the man in the mansion?
He's good on his rhymes. Am I better on scansion?
Will we feud with pentameter? emphasis? trochee?
Will his erudite wit beat my humour (more low key)?
Will we keep to the subject? (unusual in Forum)
Or get ourselves barred, for lack of decorum?
Enough of this ranting, the challenge is put,
To the seafront with notepad, the game is afoot.
(By the way, I full know, 'fore you choke in you chalice,
That Bishops live not in manse but in palace.
I assure you that I was not about dissing your station
Pleading poetic license plus alliteration)
