Correctomundo. I was in Alabama shortly after the New Orleans flood. Almost every church community (most people being a member of one), boy scout group or PTA was doing something to raise money for relief of those affected.
Here one suspects we would all have been writing letters to the newspapers demanding the 'gummint' does something. After all, we've all paid out taxes innit?
