The Brexiteer's only trump card was, er, Trump - a charlatan, a narcissist, a liar and a bonehead. Our trade deal with the US will be negotiated on their terms in just the same way that our trade deal with the EU will be on the EU terms. Why? because their economies dwarf ours. Project Reality dawning just as our economy shrivels under the impact of Covid.
