That is why Dover is the way it is because you have a parish town council that will not or cannot work with the D.D,C, and the same the other way round that is why it would help to get rid of the parish town council. They are red and the D,D,C is blue and over the years all we have seen is them putting in each others way trying to stop one party getting over anything that the other party trys to do,That is why the red party put the Parish town council back in place after many years without it.They saw a opening to get at the blues ,so they voted to put back the town council and it will go on and on like the way it is infighting till the parish town council goes, and that will only happen if the public get rid of it.

I will get back soon with more about this one.but I feel there is away forward and keeping the very good staff the t own council have but the town clark would have to go we could get rid of the council and bring back the town centre management again but run better with a expert of what the town needs and with the big saving of council going and town clark we could get the right person running it with a good wage to keep him or her,and few good businesses person as a small committee like the D.HB Mr Rix the headmaster of Dover collage, chamber of commerce .to help the manager ,we could keep a mayor but his or her roll would be a ceremony one only and need only be voted on about each 3years by the public. the person would also need a part-time secretary (paid).Their office must be in the town centre so Keeping in use the now town council office.

How could this possibly work when DDC are responsible for other towns and villages which aren't in Dover?
Perhaps a better solution would be to get rid of DDC

You might be right Sir K.CC would agree on that one with you,all we need is a Dover council made up of the best.Still think a Town centre Management could and would work well with the right person running it.

It is a very good plan just needs the right young person to get in on it and work at it .please do not take any notice of the above post, some can not see or want to see change and try a new way of working
with each other. And it shows why Dover is the way it is.

Town centre management hasn’t been much good over the past 30+ years. St James development is a prime example of too late in delivery and has little to offer.

You need to understand the financial implications .what you need to do is take the politics out of it .That will never change .The rules and regulations councils have to operate under need s a lot of understanding .Rules of employment is a mine field .Who would manage the housing stock?Environmental Health cannot be managed by one person .The public buildings etc .Leisure facilities .Public Health .A lot goes into public government .
Legal services covering land searches etc.Planning .Licensing .The list goes .

I think you're misunderstanding Sue. Vic is talking about doing away with the town council and bringing in a town management team not DDC.

Thank you sir that is what I would like to see, if it done with the right members it can and would work and the good thing is the funding would be there to get the right person. And last time that Dover done it there was no funding for it and I think the wrong kind of person trying to run it.
