    St Margaret's Bay Land Saga

Charlie Elphicke surveyed the sad scene in Calais,
Astounded at the immigrants dire plight,
Decided to engage the good ship TS Falaise,
To bring them to England one night.

First came the problem of where they would stay,
When they finally arrived on our shores,
He decided to buy land in St Margaret's bay,
Their welfare to help and safety ensure.

At the bottom of his grand pile there was land,
Sadly neglected and overlooking the sea,
He decided to buy it and offered DDC a grand,
And then invited them all round for some tea.

The Mayor of Calais, generously offered to fund,
The suffering migrants fare out of his town,
To the top of the cliffs behind the high bund,
Which caused a Dover councillor to frown.

Fragrant Gordon launched a campaign of smear,
Uttering accusations which made his act funny,
Not aware of the plan, his reasons I fear,
Was because Charlie had all the honey!

The land is still there with a look of dereliction,
Showing love and attention decidedly lacking,
Perhaps all is not lost if they have the conviction,
To licence big business to use it for fracking!
