At town and district level I could name around ten people, from different parties, that I would count as friends. They are honest and hardworking and act in what they consider to be the best interest of the town. I then read the semi literate, vindictive bilge from past and present councillors on here who are only interested in self promotion and settling scores.
The town, by general consensus, is regressing, is it any wonder when you read some of the infantile and libelous garbage on here.

One could say the same about would be politicians, the only difference being I would leave out the "semi literate" bit.
The term keyboard warrior springs to mind for all of us who complain but not prepared to stand as a councillor to try and improve things. BTW I am to old.

There are two large urban areas in Dover district and their fortunes have been moving in opposite directions over the last few years. Presiding over them is a district council out of touch with the people it represents with incumbents who are past their sell by dates.
Disbanding DDC and moving to an East Kent Unitary Authority would enable Councillors to better represent just Dover, Deal or Sandwich and concentrate on the unique needs of those urban areas whilst also making them more accountable and transparent to the wider East Kent locality.

I think you will find that DDC do look after the urban areas.Aylesham is on the up and Sandwich has had lots of improvements.

There is a politics section to this forum.
Why can't people put political posts there?

Jack a unitary won't solve your problems councillors will become even more remote but the need to look at having just minimal councils needed but also decisions made as local as possible and by communities

I like councillors coming on the forums even the ex-councillors it’s the only way most people ever get to tell the what they think.

The local press do not report on any meetings at Town, District or County level and for the most part councillors don't post on social media, DTC had a Facebook page that had to be taken down so this Forum is the only place left where we can get opinions and facts from them.

Not true Howard there are pages on Facebook where councillors can post, I know of some who post on a very popular page when tagged but not here.

There are many ways to get a Cllrs opinion
On Dover forum
when they knock on your door
when you get there leaflet
by asking them
by phoning them
meeting them in the street
meting them on the bus(as I do) I meet many constituents as I walk around the ward daily and on the bus.
I have a face book page
so there's just a few ways
