nigel farage is ukip and ukip is nigel farage, the general public are unaware of any national figures in the party.
paul nuttall makes a few statements but that is it.
farage seems to make policy on the hoof and fits it to the company he is in, one minute telling hunters that he will repeal the hunting with dogs act, the next telling those on zero hours that he will sort out their problems.
what happens if he walks in front of a bus or even more unlikely falls out of a plane?

Its only them that get given media time, that are recognisable
The party is massive and growing, all the members are individual true supporters
Instead of being enrolled by a union, or rich mans organisation.

At least Farage has a personality. Imagine you have the choice of sharing a pint with He or Ed Miliband. If your thing is to drink sparkling water while discussing the finer points of dialectic materialism and how this relates to our fight to control the climate and it's effects on public sector union membership then, hey, don't pm me for a night out on the town. However if you want a laugh, want to put the world to rights and get smashed in between smoking the odd fag in the pub garden, well count me in.
As for Clegg...........let's just leave it there shall we?

Spot on Philip, UKIP is all about real people who've had real jobs, not cosseted career politicians.
Clegg epitomises everything that people loathe about modern politics. So many people tell me they haven't voted for years but are going to vote UKIP. The 30% that didn't vote last time won't vote for the main parties but plenty will vote UKIP, they're the ones that will swing it for us.

Before TV, personality was irrelevant. Before newspaper photographs, nobody even knew what politicians looked like. In those days, education, perseverance and gravitas were what got our leaders elected. Nowadays the required qualities are more showbiz than anything else. Depressing.

UKIP will do the best they have ever done but that will not show up so much in Dover .
Yes they will get 100s more vote but it will not give them a Dover MP.
As for cllrs without knowing how many are putting up for it and where it is hard to tell.
I know from the pass where they would do well.
