What I find amazing is a lot of jobs people have worked throughout pandemic.
Councils are still having some staff working from home !
With top tier staff on over £100,000
Is a real sham that they can't get the accounts done
They really are becoming a joke

"However, the authority posted a note on its website saying the delay had arisen “due to the on-going impact of Covid-19” and as a result the audit has not yet been concluded by its auditors Grant Thornton LLP."
My lawyer grandson and magistrates managed some complex court cases from home via the internet. The same grandson was headhunted, interviewed and got the new job all via the internet, so what a lame excuse from DDC considering an audit just involves paperwork, maybe time to get more efficient auditors.

I to find this amazing. There is no excuse as working from home less time travelling to work etc.The accounting system most important. There was no delay in sending out Council Tax Bills. If the auditors were at fault then time to change to another firm.I think as I have said before too many schemes etc concentrate on the core services..Get back to the basics.

Ah yes, Grant Thornton. I guess the following slipped through their QA process: "Be aware that If you are using some of the short straight routes, eg, Calais-Dover, UK import declarations may need to be submitted prior to the ferry sailing."
https://www.grantthornton.co.uk/en/insights/prepare-for-full-customs-controls-for-trade-with-the-eu/. Insightful!
To be fair, I guess it's a bit of a trying time for them:

#4 Amazing is not an exaggeration in this context, Sue.
