  Brought up on rations in those days there was no waste We all learnt to sew and evenings were spent sewing and knitting.Onlybasics in the larder.None of this double packing on everything and ugly potatoes and fruit were eatenPresents were not wrapped in beautiful paper.rMy grand children were amazed when I said we had to be careful with pencils and not sharpen them unnecessarily.Books were looked after and hardbacks covered
  If it means hardship for a time we will gain in the end and learn the value of everything .Things have to be earnt whether it's respect or learning to wait.
