  Petitions will do no good whatsoever. Holding a demonstration totaling 2 million people was shown to have no effect at all on government policy as was demonstrated some years ago. Expecting rank outsider populist politicians (Nigel Farage for example( to have any effect on this flood situation is equally pointless. Farage has shown himself up for the shallow man he is.
  His only comment on the floods was compounded by his ill fitting wellington boots consisted of demanding an inquiry, calling for overseas aid to be diverted into helping those poor unfortunates hit by the floods, musing over some sort of volunteer army and that's it!
  Strangely, he is in a position to expose exactly where the blame lies for a great proportion of the flood problem we face but he is either ignorant of those facts or is deliberately withholding the full story. It's an open goal but he fails to kick the ball into the back of the net.
  There must be more to this than meets the eye.

  And I have to say the evidence is in the contractor biding that was instigated by the environment agency.
  
  Tendering to dredge the summerset level was dune,
  one contractor quoted £ 7000 a kilometer, but after all the EU directives where applied this quote balloons to £1 million a kilometer .
  
  The work never happened because no public cash to comply with all the tosh.
  
  Now ukip in all this,
  
  When Nigel Farage first visited the flooding he publicly stated on TV ,the first thing he will do is look at whether EU directives have contributed to the problem of flooding and non dredging.
  
  Now you know the same as me. no other political party has dun more to exposé EU corruption or eu meddling in the lives of the people of the uk. We are a small party with limited funds we cannot publish all the mess, it just to big a mess
  
  We depend on internal scrutiny in side the EU parliament to exposé them.

  Keith that is an appalling apology for your party.
  UKIP do not believe that Brussels has any hand in these floods. Only last night Lisa Duffy stated this on television.
  As for pleading poverty in this regard, well, I've heard it all now. A pitiful excuse to those who voted UKIP to represent them in Europe. Pitiful.

  He clearly is saying that he suspects dredging has stopped because of EU directives.
  Miss Duffy is guilt of not knowing the facts, and its all over the ukip forum .
  I never suspected that rivers ,all over the uk are not being cleaned out because of the EU directives pushing up the bill for this work , but I am not surprised by this ,
  
  As a party ukip do well exposing the EU con ,but not enough for you unfortunately

  Wrong Keith I did look at the video and wasn't impressed.
  In the space of a nearly twelve minute interview he made but one reference to EU directives and the "possible" effect they might have had on the floods. I suspect there is more to this than meets the eye. Have UKIP voiced their concerns over the years about the effect their directives might have had? Have they even voted for or abstained when it came to pass these regulations?
  Who knows?
  But if Farage was really up to the job he would have made this his main attack rather than asking for an inquiry or suggesting a Dad's army to clear up the mess or demanding that the foreign aid budget be diverted to help pay for the clear up.
  Nope, he's certainly not up to the job and I suspect he will inevitably go the way of previous UKIP leaders and be forced out or will be forced to resign a la permatan chat show host Robert Kilroy-silk.
