I agree with you in part Bish.
Possibly the guys at the top who pull the strings and call the shots etc., know what they're doing and use the power of religion to indoctrinate the thicko masses into their way of thinking. But you can't escape from the fact that those actually carrying out the atrocities ( and there are lots of them!) are religious fanatics and are prepared to commit horrendous acts in the name of their religion. Presumably that's why they prey before they embark on their foul missions and call out "God is great" at the time of attack? Can you really say that religion is completely blameless in any of this? ( if indeed you are )
As I said before, it's a dilemma eh?
