OK I know Charlie doesn't come on here but I know he'll get to hear of the content
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/eureferendum/10050582/EU-referendum-The-solution-to-this-EU-mess-lies-in-Article-50.html
On May 2nd there's a good chance that Charlie will be asked about Article 50 and its ramifications. Perhaps it will finally dawn on his constituents that Charlie is very pro EU, despite his protestations.
In the meantime I'm keen to hear what Peter and Barry think.

Charlie is not pro-EU. But you and he differ on the way forward, David.

fair point peter this is where blue barry and i agree, a referendum now would probably result in a stay in vote.
timing is all important although i stick to my view that the eu will implode before 2017.

I can only describe the Dover conservatives MPs voting record on the EU
As a festering bucket of s....The local conservative activists must be choking on.
Charlie even voted for the EU propaganda budget !!!

Nail on head Keith, Charlie votes with govt because he foolishly believes we can get reforms, we all saw what happened when Cameron visited Merkel recently.
There's no option Peter it's in or out, and you know that Charlie knows that

reform is a word used by politicians when they see a problem and have no idea how to solve it, a bit like calling for a public enquiry.

Correct Howard.
If Cameron wants reform outline what it is and ask the EU if they'll accept.
Of course, he already knows the answer and so does Charlie, but Charlie has his eye on another promotion so he can't rock the boat.

sorry to be repetitive but thee rules are that all 27 member states have to give the nod to any reforms.
that clearly cannot happen, whatever happened to democracy where a majority vote won the day?

Howard, next time you see Charlie or Peter ask them about article 50.
Peter has always been proud of his non partisan approach and I enjoy our conversations, but he does have a blind spot when it comes to Charlie's EU stance.
I suspect that on may 2nd somebody will raise the issue with Charlie, I'm sure he'll reassure us that he's as Eurosceptic as Peter says he is.

Sorry to disappoint Howard but I'll be there as an interested observer only. I've a feeling the issue may be raised though, on my travels around the feeling is that Charlie says one thing and does another, he calls a clinic a hospital, he shuts secondary schools in Deal, he pays lip service to regeneration and postures with minor dignitaries in Calais.
He's a nice fellow who's got himself promoted by voting with his boss, but as a local MP he's been very disappointing.
I hear on the grapevine that Mrs E might be quite prominent in east Kent before long, I've never met her but I'm told she's the power behind the throne, a formidable woman.
