One of a politician's many delusions is that he thinks he's a deeply serious person while everyone else is a fool. Hence the compensatory cringe attempts at public 'just like you', 'human' behaviour lest he appear 'too' serious (wearing a t-shirt or baseball cap, eating a burger, digging BritPop).
These efforts prove only that he is, after all, a fool.
