Like other UKIP members I have had a letter from the party asking me to help out at the Rochester and Strood campaign.
I have agreed to do just that even that I am not a member at this time.
When I joined UKIP they were fighting to get parish cllrs not like today.I have not jumped on the band wagon like some over the last two years I was one of their first cllrs back in first years of 2000 and held down four parishs seats the most any person had in the UK and all of them was got on voting day I agree that no one put up for the seats at that time but that had nothing to do with me ,My town cllrs seat was won by geting the most votes but the others I walked it.And they did know I was in UKIP but at that time UKIP did not wish to go for local seats even my own committee turned down going for any but I still went ahead . So now even not a party member I will help if asked to.
At this time all we are seeing are the ones that have joined the bandwagon and geting on well.
What I would like to see are the true UKIP members who have been working hard and out all hours on the streets getting on to, they have been the backbone of the party when things did not go right but stayed with it .
I just hope we will see some of them come to the front now. Some of us would be out in the streets from 0800hrs till 2200hrs and getting very little back in the way of votes but we had good times doing it +we where all holding down full time jobs and using our own funds to help the party, most of my own committee and members put alot more in then I did just to keep it moving along and in return I would do more out in the streets.
Some members and still there and will do the same for the party but they are like myself not so young and not so fit.
