I briefly posted on a local Labour run Facebook page which encouraged anyone to contribute
But as I found in later posts, even with simple subjects like should we have 3 councils
Resulted in the moderators (senior Labour officials) deciding a suspension of posting without authority of the moderator.
Now, you could say, so what.
Well if your like many in my area, and I'm sure other areas. People are looking to an alternative to the Govt.
All the time parties are inward looking then this will encourage people not to vote..
This will result in the govt remaining and opposition still sitting outside number 10.
Although its not just the opposition cllrs you rarely see(even before the virus) it is a big problem.
At the end of the day they are elected to serve us and not the party..
I hope we see change
In the interest of democracy

Most people's interest in politics is limited to those occasions every few years when we're called upon to sustain the collective delusion that we're a democracy. I doubt many of them hang around on political fora or FB pages, so the 'inward-lookingness' of those places is hardly relevant to them. In any case, when all the main parties are basically variations on Blairism, and opposition amounts merely to 'we agree with you, but couldn't you just tinker with this bit', there's hardly 'an alternative to the Govt' to get excited about.
btw, how does 'Resulted in the moderators... deciding a suspension of posting without authority of the moderator' actually work?

I could not fathom that one either, as that is the whole point of a moderator to make a decision on whether a post should go or stay. The problem comes when a personal dislike sways the result, it has happened to me so I have stopped starting new posts as there was no point with that moderator still active.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Probably a combination of dislike and not willing to accept alternative views.

Than what's offered at present.
