The thing that pi$$es me off about all this is not so much what has happened to Mike (as leader one can always expect a palace coup bubbling under) but how Peter Walker has been treated.
He is a clever, humble and honest man who had retired after giving years of service in public service in which he was well respected and has always acted quietly and conscientiously in council doing what he thought best for the electorate. I never though of him particularly 'Labour' or indeed 'political'. I sometimes disagreed with him but always respected his views.
The accusation of 'racism' was farcical and I suspect he will have found it deeply hurtful.
It was only brought up, months after the event, to get him suspended so he could not put his hat in the ring for next year's elections post boundary reorganisation.
His treatment was beyond shameful.
