  There is never any plausible excuse for the average policeman trying to uphold the law getting attacked and injured by those thugs and troublemakers.
  
  Part of the problem is the complete lack of respect and active dislike of the police held by far to many, once upon a time even though the hard nut criminals might not have liked the police at least they respected them.
