I hear you have left UKIP Andrew
I'm still a member of the UKIP group of 3 councillors on DDC, as I have no issues with continuing to work alongside Georgette and Ben, but I haven't renewed my membership of UKIP and don't intend to, so yes I've left the party.
Thanks for that I understand you have been working on a book for two years so have not taken any interest in the ward.
I have a full time job, and I manage to get what council work done I can. I'm especially active in regard to planning, and I do take an interest in the ward. But I'm not retired or with a private income so am never going to be 100% available or devoted to that. Being a councillor is one of the things I do in my life, but far from the only one.

Andrew
If the above is correct surely as you stood as a UKIP person and you no longer in that party then you should either step aside or stand as an indy?
people would have voted for you as a UKIP follower, to not be a member sends out the wrong signals.
Without doubt you did start well, but we havn't heard from you for some time but we have only a few councillors of the 9 in the ward whom you can call active.

Who are you talking about, some of us are not as politically minded as others.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

So he’s probably returned to the conservatives then ?
I wonder if the membership would have selected him if given a vote

This seems to be a tried, tested and trusted Conservative Party tactic. They tap someone up, get them to hide within another party and after they've been successful (and their party has paid out campaign money, resources etc.) they make overtures to them and sweeten them into cushy role in the local Tories. I seem to remember this happening in Folkestone regularly with both Lib-Dems and Labour jumping ship!

Yeah? Like with Mark Reckless and Douglas Carswell you mean? Oh. Hang on. They were elected as Conservative MPs and defected to UKIP.

I remember the Carswell stunt at Clacton when he realised the local UKIP bloke was due to oust him at the next General Election, he defected and Farage dumped the candidate.

Yep. It just smacks of saving your own skin rather than being a public servant, respecting the wishes of those that can be bothered to vote.

Your attempts at re-writing history are as risible as they are pathetic. Carswell was the Conservative MP at Clacton, he resigned from the Conservative Party, joined UKIP and a by-election was held.
Ditto Reckless.
