Have read that 3 of our Mayors daughters have won categories in Dover's competition, 2 senior Princesses and May Queen, he was involved as part of the judging panel surely just a little conflict of interest there?

I have three daughters.
The idea of judging pre/mid pubescent teens on 'pulchritude' in 2020 I find pathetic.
I thought we'd left this crap behind with Miss World in the 60s/70s along with Benny Hill, though at least that didn't have a sulphourous whiff of Jimmy Saville...
Grow up Dover.

'pulchritude'
Word of the day IMO.

Being bitchy and not having seen any information about such an important
event maybe there were no other entries.
Such dubious 'honours' are way past their sell by date along with our waste of time carnivals.

I totally agree with the Cap'n that this is a long outdated practice but in the interests of accuracy...
from a cursory search on the interwebs the carnival court is
Senior queen Lily Kirk was chosen as Miss Dover Town while her deputy was Lara Lynch.
Kiki Dempsey and Marissa Cloke became the Senior Princesses.
The rest of the court included Paige Habbershaw (Junior Miss Dover Town), Sophie Longhurst (deputy), Evie-Rose Erridge and Teegan Habbershaw (junior princesses).
I cannot see that any of them are daughters of the current or recent previous mayors of Dover, but do note that 2 of the "junior princesses" are related to the Chair of Dover Carnival.
Would love to hear from the OP where they got their information from...

Ah that seems to explain it RB - clearly the OP is struggling with the dates or is just a lost time traveler

How very odd, I notice the OP is by a new member so even stranger.
I would edit my comment #4 but am unable to do that although I still believe my second sentence.

Perhaps there'll be more uncanny visitations from our ghostly former selves as our jaded, fenced-in minds run out of ideas for new threads.
