    Elphicke's was for sure a no-negative-consequences career-motivated move.

    In a healthy society, someone who betrayed thousands of those who elevated him would be subject at least to social punishment. In our perverse politics, however, a willingness to shamelessly hawk your political affiliation to the highest bidder is an endorsement.

    Haughty lecturing aside, though, it's hilarious that most people (including her) think she's joined a party that's different to the one she left. The reason a politician can so easily 'cross the floor' is because the parties are so obviously similar, mere cornflake brands bidding for a higher market share for their equally tasteless product.
