I thought for a minute she had resigned, Corbyn and Co will be pleased if she does survive for another two years.

From the Mirror.

Now what did I write on 9th August?
Keep supporting Theresa as she is too bland for people to actually dislike her and if Brexit goes tits up the blame can be put on her and not the party. In run up to next GE Theresa resigns to be replaced with A N Other who everyone votes for as they appear 'New' and 'Improved' (a bit like selling soap powder) while people are by now bored with Corbyn and his 6th form debating society type of socialism"We are living in very strange times, and they are likely to get a lot stranger before we bottom out"

Very well put and I believe your synopsis will be borne out...except the "bored of Corbyn" bit. Remember, every time you say his name he gets stronger. (And, for that matter, his Sixth Form debating society will be students in strategically placed universities around the UK ready to do a 'Canterbury' when the time is right.)

Corbyn has grown into the role of opposition leader and now seems self assured and the bookies make Labour very slight favourites to win more seats than the Tories next time around. Nobody wants topple the Prime Minister as they want her to take the blame for the Brexit fiasco and then others can start to go for the top job. It is in Labour's interest to stay in opposition for another two years as more people turn 18 and most likely to vote for them while many Tory voters will be turning up their toes.
The decision of Labour to go for a transitional period where we stay in the Single Market and Customs Union will resonate with many including some that wouldn't normally vote for them. Today lifelong Tory Matthew Parris said that he is likely to vote Labour for the first time in his life purely because of their recent announcement.

I think most Tories, deep down, know that Brexit will be a shambles. Good, therefore, to have a PM in place who still owes the party following the disastrous general election and will willingly fall on her sword and take the blame with her when the time is right.
The nightmare Tory scenario would be her going before Brexit, and somebody else has to take the heat - watch Boris, Gove et al run for the hills in such a scenario.

Er, didn't Brexit come about because of a democratic vote?

Notice, also, that May has ensured that all key protagonists are in positions to take the blame with her. Davies has been given the ultimate responsibility to make the dream work, Boris has been given a job that is technically linked to Brexit even though he is not allowed to do anything vaguely noteworthy and Liam Fox has been given the job of making all of these trade deals work. Gove is an interesting one, I think that was an outright tease by giving him the widely recognized worst job in the Cabinet.
If it works, they are all heroes, if it doesn't - they all pay the price for an issue they themselves created.

You may like to correct post 3 Bob. the blessed Theresa is as popular as a turd in a bouncy castle by those who wish to remain in the EU and those who want to leave.
Her place in history is as assured in the same way as Sir Anthony Eden is.
