years ago it was fun to stand for MP OR CLLR the meetings were great the public would be trying to shout you down when yo got up to say what you was standing for town hall would be full up,but now they call it husting or a word like that the public have to write down what they what to aske the candidate before the meeting ,that is done so the candidate knows what he going to be asked.there is no shouting you sit there like muppets boring.

This post is not correct.
For those that attended the hustings in Dover chaired by the Bishop of Dover there were no set questions and any question could be asked and were very wide ranging.

Politics is a funny thing, the best part I believe is parties can come together on any subject.
Over the years on DDC a scrutiny committee was formed, and if this worked well it could help to bring the administration to account.
But often it would be abused by cllrs who say one thing at scrutiny then vote along party lines at the full council, making a mockery of the scrutiny set up
