I don't think it is about suppressing news but when things become too commonplace it stops being newsworthy.

So much so that even the far right press in those countries are not bothering to report it, I can't imagine why?

For example an article written over a year ago?

A valid point in the article is that people get lumped together if they are from the same country even though they were at loggerheads there. Some years back in Folkestone there were pitch battles on a nightly basis at Marine Parade between young Afghans resulting in one being stabbed to death. It needed a team of interpreters from around the country being brought down as those involved spoke various different dialects.

The UK government has used D-notices for over century to try to stop certain bits of information from entering the public realm and, though the mainstream media isn't legally bound by them, it's largely compliant. In any case, I doubt they're very effective now with the spread of social media. I don't know about the rest of Europe, but there's certainly some dodgy business in Salisbury they don't want too many people to know too much about.

You won't make a case about 'suppression of news storeys' using that as evidence, KB. Even the BBC are following the case:

No great problem with that Brian, at least the “continentals” were of a similar type and culture to us and perhaps happy to assimilate with the indigenous population at that time?

And some of those continentals, like the Normans, simply sailed in, and it's been a yoke ever since.
