Completely out of step with public opinion, he's trying to candour to the big land owners that have a strangle holed on uk politics and the driving force for farm subsides that give to the rich.
We need a referendum on this issue so we can buried it for good,

spot on kb, not often that farage misses out on the public mood but wildly out on this one.
no point in trying to woo the posh rural dwellers they just see ukip as oiks and will stick with their own, besides all the indicators are that in the main new members joining are former red voters or sympathisers.

He might lose the support of those liberals who decided to defect to UKIP but it's such an insignificant issue for most people it will make little difference in the end.

i doubt that many if any liberals moved to ukip philip but it will upset the traditional blue collar following that ukip have been picking up.

Of course one has to ask oneself why was the saboteur grabbing hold of the horse. That seems to be a particularly dangerous manoevere for both parties.
