The Christmas Party.
Yes its the first of many. But as the machinery is running slow due to hangover problems the editor is unable to rush the process.Woe woe thrice woe!
I particularly like this picture so got it up first. Yes those faces will be familiar to one and all as it's a shot of regular party favourites, Ian Lillford and Stewart Dimmock, seen here letting their hair down at the White Horse Inn for The Doverforum Christmas Party 2008.
There will be more pictures to follow soon. But for the moment gaze longingly on these good time heroes.

Our colleagues from the Dover Express popped in to enjoy themselves and enjoy themselves they did. I managed to pin them down with daughter Briony Boland for this shot. Yes of course its those intrepid newshounds extraordinaire Yam Zendera and Rhys Griffiths who are unafeared to go where no man hath goneth before in the pursuit of truth, honour, and a good story..or words to that effect!
BrionyB has just returned to Dover from university where she is pursuing a medical career.
Ah yes, "here come the girls", the dynamic women behind the throne. The organisers, the ralliers, the industrious beings unparalleled. Ive been told to say this or else! So as 'else' seemed a fate worse than death Ive humbly obliged. But yes really and seriously its the girls that put it all together, led from the front by Colette Boland. They supplied a great spread of food and warmth and delight for all. (Okay lets not overdo it!)
From the left we have new councillor Georgette Rapley. Then Hotelier Adeline Reidy, then Forum Party person and all round socialiser Colette Boland. Next we have lovely Linda Hannent wearing a nice line in spectacles for the occasion, and then on the right jovial Jean Walkden. In the foreground is Cllr Jan Tranter, one time mayor extraordinaire.
Doverforum advertiser Gillian Smissen is seen here on the righthandside in this picture. Gillian owns the Regatta Hair Salon at The Churchill Hotel and supplies lots of glamour hairstyles, massages, and much much more for many of the women of the town, including some of the forumite stars. Always good to see some extra attractive glamour at Doverforum parties and these girls fit that particular bill. On the left in the shot is lovely Louise Bines. I hope Ive got that name right but I made a mental note of it while ever so slightly three sheets to the wind...so my accuracy was wavering. But someone will let me know poste haste Im sure. Yes all corrected now.
There will be more pictures soon.
So make sure you tune back in at a later time...Here we are..
Lots of joviality going on here, its good to see some of the Town Council fraternity letting their collective hairs down. What Town Clerk Mike Webb said to Councillor Jan Tranter to cause such hysterics we will never know but good to see them all having such fun, while Phil Eyden looks on in amusement. Mike has never ever missed a Doverweb/Doverforum Party. Earlier in the evening Carole was onboard too.
Staunch longtime forumites here. A smiling Barry Williams shares a joke or two with Ian Lillford and on right of shot DT, who as you can see is making an effort to escape the intrusive eye of the camera by slipping quietly behind his pint. "I want to be anonymous" said DT in true Garbo style. The picture on the right is of that man about town and all round good egg Cllr Chris Precious, seen here having a natter with Phil Eyden, our nature man. Phil's pages (see main menu) have beeen hugely successful. What he doesnt know about dragonflies etc etc...
Well what can you say about these two forumite legends.Always good for a bit of fun and banter these two. Yes of course its leading Councillors Nigel Collor and Roger Walkden, but hark wots this...Nigel doesnt appear to have a glass in his hand. It must have been an oversite. The picture on the right shows another longtime top forumite Howard McSweeney discussing the pros and cons of the 'amber nectar' with Chris Precious. It looks a nice pint too.Always good to see these guys.
That's new man Brian Dixon enjoying a pint of Guinness. Brian is not a member all that long but good to have him with us. He has added a welcome dimension of fun and seriousness all in the same package. On the right we have Alan Taylor who took those terrific pictures for us in Europe during the Remembrance festivals. Seen here getting up close and comfortable with Cllr Georgette Rapley.
The picture on the far left shows ColetteB, social organiser, enjoying a nibble, a drink, and a chat with the Deputy Mayor herself Sue Jones, under a canopy of Christmas Balloons especially imported from the north pole for the grand occasion!
Picture on right is of BB again, this time with boyfriend Aaron, getting up close in the party atmosphere.
Some of the younger set. Yes its regular party girl Aimee Mullan who helped greatly with our little raffle. Next to her is Aaron, then Emma, and then Laurence. On the right we have Linda Hannent chatting with Cllr Ronnie Philpott, a councillor who does a considerable amount of event organising herself, but here she is relaxing and enjoying a nibble at Christmas, on the right is the exponent of wisdom David Mullan himself.
Although I have more pictures of more people I think I better stop there. A/ Ive run out of stamina and B/ the page will probably get too big for manageability. Good to see that so many of you turned up and everybody seemed to have a great old time. I eventually left the pub myself along with Jan T at 1.30am in the morning.
