The terraced tiered gardens at the back of The White Horse Inn make an excellent venue, the ancient stonework and the cosy lanterns all add to the charm as the light goes down on the late summer evening. The dazzling glow of good company, not to mention the too many birthday candles, all add to the great atmosphere. A bumper crowd turned up to enjoy themselves and that was fantastic.First thing I have to note is that I left a whole number of terrific forumites out of the photos. You never realise this at the time, is that something to do with the demon drink...? because as ever as the evening wears on one forgets ones knobs and dials and concentrates on partying!
Again as ever the WAGS Club led by ColetteB organised everything and in the photo above we have two of the leading members of said club...Colette Boland herself and the always happy Linda Hannent. These two make the party go with a swing for sure. Well done you girls!
The Party wouldnt be the same without oul stalwarts Ian Croc Lillford and councillor and man about town Chris Precious. Always good fun these guys and here they are enjoying the benefits of the 'amber nectar' or some such brew of lethal concoction. The pic on the right shows the party girls. Yes these goodlookingly gorgeous girls know how to party. Therese, Paula, ColetteB and of course the legendary Jan Tranter, councillor and ex-mayor... ooh steady now!!
Ah now! what can you say about these three beauties, these three heartbreakers. All gorgeous and all great fun, all the time. On the left of the trio is Saskia Wadsworth-Smith, centre is the lovely Alison Williams and on the right daughter BB, yes the one and only Briony Boland. All having a great time.
More lovely ladies. Carole Webb, although not too well earlier in the week made a great recovery to be there, good to see Adeline Reidy again too(seated), Georgette Rapley also, and then on the right Sue Mullan who made the spectacular cake and other foodie goodies. Yumm! The picture on the right shows some of the bigwigs from the Town Council. Yes its the Town Clerk himself Mike Webb chatting away merrily to the all new Deputy Mayor herself Sue Jones.Great to see them in the clan as ever.
Ah yes its the famous doe eyed roving reporter herself Mary Graham..who jetted in from well ermm elsewhere, to see all her ould friends and ould stomping ground. She of course, for those with short memories, used to be the roving reporter on the Dover Mercury and very good she was too. Always out there mixing it! Here she gets together with her well known 'source' of olde...Cllr Nigel Collor. Them glasses look empty there chappies...I bet they didnt stay like that for long! Also in the shot is lovely Katharine Barham, a regular at all the gatherings.
Here we have Jan Tranter trying to tempt yours truly with a slice of birthday cake. I should have grabbed it while I had the chance, the birthday cake that is not Jan, although maybe I....!! On the right we have BB again but this time with the always welcome and very attractive girls Laura and Rachel Bassett.Nice to see you again girls!
Ah! all legendary contributors to Doverforum over the long years, and its beginning to feel like a long time, top players about town Cllr David Hannent, Tom 'Guzzler' Mitchell, Keith 'Keef' Sansum, and Howard McSweeney. Great to see all these guys again..all good lads. Ah more lovely wimmin and all having a fun time...Jo, Jackie, Cheryl, and last but not least we have Gillian of the Regatta Hair Saloon down in The Churchill Hotel.
Cutting the cake is of course a very strenous task so one had to be supported by the lovely Alison in case one over-reached oneself. And being neither domestic nor practical a chap was grateful for the able support from top WAG Alison. Delicious cake it was too..snapped up in an instant by a horde of avaricious aligators so it was !
Twas good to see ould longtime colleague Rick Jones again, legendary doverwebber, here is the man himself with wife, the ever popular Claire, and of course Katharine as above. Picture on right shows the long legged lovely Una Mills of DDC, here enjoying a drink with Barry W-S of Doverforum, and Simon, fiance of Jane Carruthers, former sales manager of The Churchill.
Last but not least teenstars Aimee Mullan and Alex Williams enjoying the late summer evening on the balcony.
Many thanks to everyone for the gifts and cards. Absolutely great!
Apologies to those I never got round to photographing.
